Xbox One is free of Kinect and no longer requires a Gold subscription to use streaming apps
Microsoft revealed this morning that Xbox users may no longer need a Gold subscription to gain access to some of their favorite streaming apps. Specifically, Netflix and Hulu, with other streaming apps to follow. But to offset the loss, other services may find themselves behind the pay wall, like the recently announced Xbox Originals. Those are comprised of TV-like programming exclusive to Xbox.
This news follows the reveal that starting June 9th, Microsoft will begin offering a Kinect-less Xbox One SKU. It will run at the reasonable price of $399 and will deliver all the Xbox One experiences you want, without the motion controls.
