Casual Gamers Empty
PostSubject: Casual Gamers   Casual Gamers EmptySun Oct 06, 2013 3:50 am

So after a few hours of internet surfing and looking for new games to play, the thought of casual gamers crossed my mind. Let let me explain my definition of what a casual gamer is. A casual gamer is someone who doesn't really get into games that much, likes to game but doesn't like to put that much effort into it, someone who uses mmorpgs like one big massive chat room hoping to hook up. I could go on and on but someone might offended. I was born in 1976 and I grew up playing arcade machines and Atari at home. I loved arcade style games. If I sucked at it I played it til I got better. My dad was a gamer back then. Even my mom likes to jump on the PC and play simple flash games and really gets into it. So you could say I come from a family of gamers. PWI was my very first mmorpg. I didn't start getting into PC gaming until was I about 26 so my PC game experience included Diablo II, Baldurs Gate II and Dungeon Siege. PWI just hooked me from the very beginning. There was so much to learn. I asked questions. I killed things over and over even if I died 50 times that day. I didn't have alot of money so I learned from others how to make money. Eventually I learned the game by playing it.

Nowadays it seems people that come on expect to be power leveled, have stuff handed to them, have everything killed for them or want a romance with a stranger. If it's not that then you have people in world chat that abuse it for their own personal cries of help. Whatever happen to just playing the dam game? The game has been updated so much to cater to all these casual people and it's still not enough for them. You log in and you get experience and spirit for doing the calendar sign in! You can't get much easier than that. God forbid you tell a new player to go do quests and they will leave your faction or PM you with how much you suck for not babying them. To any new players who might read this (I doubt you will) there's no rush to get to end game. End game consists of dailies and that's about it. There's more stuff to do in the lower levels. This is why I'm always looking for new games to play. Playing PWI has become more of a job than it is fun. At least when I play Everquest II I really enjoy my time playing it because I'm not in a hurry to level. I'm not expected to help some ungrateful noob. I can just quest and learn the game. Just like all games are meant to be played.

I understand if some of you don't have time to play alot but in all games effort is needed to be good at it. Whether it's completing quests, farming, or learning to make money. Anybody who has the ability to download this game and work a computer has the ability to succeed at it. Even if it means taking time out to read info on the PWI forums or our forums. I would like to see our faction and our gaming community (server) be more successful players. It makes for a much more enjoyable time together. Smile

+1 for this. My story is very close to this and i see this in much of the same light. PWI is a really fun game if you take the time to learn it and play it like it was intended. RPG= Role playing game, most noob players have no idea what that means. Find a group of players your level, make a squad that allows certain "roles" to come together to accomplish a quest together. BH is a good example, what fun is it having a 100+ come and solo your bh for you? Find a group, have some REAL fun. Agro everything, get in trouble, find out just what your toon is capable of. Learn teamwork because once your 100+ theres no more having someone come run everything for you. You will have no choice but to get in groups and it wont take them but a minute to see if you know how to play or not.

i point you all to Fallen Earth.. good luck power leveling in it and if you do, good luck getting gear in the end.. it is not a babied game or for handouts. WoW did ruin our MMORPG as it is known today and will only allow it to stay that way if we let it stay that way. please consider what Magebane has tried to accomplish when it comes to working together and not giving straight up handouts.. we do try and i have a lot of respect for the faction we have built but yes we do play a game full of hand outs, yes we have a choice whether or not we will take the handouts. please be informative to your faction guys and be the leaders they need, the faction mates they seek, not the hand out they expect.

Fallen Earth is very free.. there is no way to pay to win. there is no way to make money form anything except what you work your ass off in game to create, mounts and vehicles are good money but very hard work. making gear is also good money. it is not a game that you go become level 55 in a week or 2.. yes level 55 is the best you get unless you are a GM. GMs can be found in game and have even been known to skype with people in the game for helping needs.. immediately deleting friendship afterward. they did that for me once lol i love the GMs in Fallen Earth.

A mature person knows it takes time to learn anything. Immature people expect things to be handed to them. Age is not mentioned here because it doesn't apply. I have met very mature young people and very immature old people. The casual gamer you mention is after the quick reward and I tell them go play Jewel Blitz or some such. There used to be chatrooms for get togethers and now it seems to be MMO's. I refer chatters to HabboHotel or similar and take your friends with you please. Yes I do tend at times to want to chat with someone, especially if they are simpatico but many times I am also grinding away at a daily while chatting. Let me also say this at risk of perhaps hurting someone's feelings, I am glad you like your new fashion but please dont expect me to drop what I am doing to come see it. It is hard to say that to someone in game without them getting hurt feelings. I dont like deliberately hurting people, I try to avoid that. Perhaps in this venue they can get the hint.

I am going to have to check out this Fallen Earth. If I leave PWI again it is Raka's fault lmao.

I've been a gamer all my life. Playing mmorpgs is different in that there's alot more socialization going on. That part took awhile to get use to. What gets me is the people who want free handouts or people wanna socialize so much that you can't get things done. This is why I won't get married again in game. I want to play the game and play with others who want to get things done. We even have a voice chat for those that wanna chat away while we get things done. Also the type of mmorpg you play radically changes the way the community interacts. I'm sure Fallen Earth or Everquest II have way different people than PWI when it comes to the social and gaming aspect.

Runescape is a good one for kids socializing and scamming each other. It is also full of beggars who dont want to do anything but stand around the market place asking for money. I had a membership in it up until last year. I used to play it with my grandkids but they have moved on to others now. I belong to a great guild on there if I can ever get membership back again, finances ....
